James RosenquistSince the late 1950's, James Rosenquist has been creating exceptional and very intriuging piecs of work. he is very well known for being one of the leaders of them American Pop art movement.
In his work he explores different textures, colours, lines and shapes that continue to overwhelm the public and influence younger generations of artists.\ His painitings are directly aimed towards the cultural and political nature of the times in which they were created. He is extremley renowned from Pop canvases to his billboard-sized works and continuing with his recent use of abstract painting Rosenquist is a contrasting surrealist; i find his work very powerful as he creates half-hidden narratives and extreme juxtaposisions, as well as creating a dream like tone to his work. Many of his pieces of work follow a theme of bright bold lips, which represent a narrative and a style in his work. i find these expressions and emotions very powerful and a unique way of presenting an image due to the message he is trying to get across about the subject and its meaning. One unique aspect that i find interesting in his work is the facial expressions used to convey a certain mood to the photograph; he sometimes used expressions as juxtapositions to what the image is actually showing and his feelings towards the subject. |
