Kyle Thompson is a photographer from Chicago, Illinois. His style, as he describes it, is surreal conceptual photography; the creation of a surreal world in order to depict concepts. He has a fascination with abandoned houses and empty forests, locations where the majority of his photographs take place. He specializes in self-portraiture. Thompson is renowned for his use of unusual locations. He frequently uses abandoned houses, vacant forests and rivers and lakes. His love of the outdoors sprang from his distaste of the suburbs where he grew up. He says 'the suburbs are a fake and constructed reality. He is also known for using water, smoke and lighting effects to enhance surreal feel of his photos.

My interpretations of smoke and fire photography
These photographs I have taken were inspired by Kyle Thompson. I incorporated his style of photography into these photographs by using a location which is very similar to the ones he has taken his photographs. in the background of some of my photographs there is a stone wall and woodland which is featured in his shots. I also explored colour in the series of photographs by editing them on pixlr and changing the brightness and saturation to make the colour more/less intense. I have also changes the colour completely on some of the fire and sparkler photographs which adds a new dimension which is what Kyle Thompson does, he usually experiments with strange realities which is what I was also inspired by.
